What's in My Makeup Bag with @bymilliee
This week we catch up with Millie from @bymilliee and chat all things beauty. We talk about how she started blogging, her must-have beauty products and a foundation tip you'll definitely want to try! She also shares what's inside her Jetsetter Travel Bag!
Hi, thanks for joining us! When did you start your Instagram and how did it come about?
My Instagram really started off the back of my blog, which I launched just before heading off to University to study Journalism in 2014. At the time blogging was the thing to do, especially for a Journalism student, and Instagram hadn't quite caught up yet - now it's quite different and I love creating beauty content for both.
What’s your full time job? How do you juggle your time between creating content for your Instagram and your full time job?
My day-to-day job is in PR, which I love, and I feel goes hand-in-hand with content creation. Since being at home a lot more, I've been lucky enough to dedicate more time to my Instagram, whereas before I would try to shoot all of my content at the weekends and write the copy throughout the week. I will no doubt have to go back to that, but for now I'm loving how flexible I can be.
When did your passion for all things beauty start?
Growing up with two older sisters, and a mum, who all adored beauty, I was introduced to brands such as Benefit, MAC and Estee Lauder pretty early on - those really were the beauty power-houses 10 or so years ago! I remember my mum taking me to Sephora when I was around 14, whilst we were on holiday in the US, and I haven't looked back since - I only picked up a nail buffer, but it was enough to spark my love for the industry.
What are 3 items in your Jetsetter Travel Bag?
I can't go anywhere without a lip balm, the Fresh sugar balms are my current favourites. I also always travel with a hydrating night cream, and some concealer!
What are your top 3 makeup products?
I've been loving all things Nudestix at the moment - their Matte Bronzing Stick in Bondi Bae is gorgeous, and I've been reaching for it near-enough everyday. I'm also a huge liquid liner fan, and my current go-to is the Soap and Glory Supercat liner - it's very black, and lasts really well on the lids. Lastly, I've been loving the Fenty Gloss Bomb in Fussy, I find it pairs well over any lipstick and I'm obsessed with the shine!
And your top 3 skincare products?
I can't do my routine without my Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel, it's the best cleanser for radiance and hydration. The smell is also lovely! In the mornings I've been loving to use Vitamin C, and the Murad Vita-C Glycolic Brightening Serum has been leaving my skin so soft, supple and glowy. Lastly, SPF! I always use an SPF without fail, the sun really can damage the skin so this is super important - Dermalogica has some great options that I swear by.
Lastly, could you share a makeup or skincare tip that you swear by?
Mixing foundations! I love to mix a glowy formula, with a more matte foundation, it creates the perfect skin-like finish, and you really do get the best of both worlds. Also mixing in a more shimmery primer will give a beautiful lit-from-within glow.
